Kids Club of Madison

Doing Good Can Start at Any Age

The Kids Club of Madison was born from a simple but powerful moment: a six-year-old asked, “Why can’t kids do stuff like this?” That question changed everything and inspired us to create a space where children in our community can be part of giving back right alongside the adults they look up to.

We believe kids have big ideas, generous hearts, and the ability to make a real impact — and we want to give them the tools and opportunities to do just that. The Kids Club is open to all interests and ages, and every idea matters, no matter how big or small.

Each month, our members choose a mission they’re passionate about. From food drives to Valentine deliveries and future community projects, kids get hands-on experience planning, creating, and giving back to others.

This is a place to build confidence, foster kindness, and learn that being part of a community is about more than just having fun — it’s about making a difference together.

Want to get your child involved? See below for our current missions and ways to join in.

Community Book Drive for Read to Grow

NOW through March 31, 2026

This March, the Kids Club of Madison is hosting a community book drive to support Read to Grow, a Connecticut nonprofit dedicated to getting books into the hands and homes of children who need them most.

Did you know the average middle-class child owns about 13 books, while in some low-income neighborhoods there is only one book available for every 300 children? Through this book drive, our Kids Club members are working to help change those numbers right here in Connecticut.

This event is a chance for kids in our community to learn about generosity, take action, and help other children experience the joy of reading.

How You Can Participate

We are collecting new or gently used children's books to donate to Read to Grow. Books can be for newborns through high school age, though the greatest need is for children ages 0–7.

Please keep the following guidelines in mind when donating:

  • Books should be in excellent condition – clean, intact, and free of writing, marks, odors, or damage.

  • We welcome books that reflect the diversity of the children served by Read to Grow.

  • Please do not donate adult books, library books, magazines, encyclopedias, textbooks, classroom book sets, or outdated nonfiction (older than 10 years).

Packing Donations

To help our partners process the books efficiently:

  • Please pack books in boxes, not bags.

  • Boxes should be roughly the size of a copy paper box (15 × 12 × 10) or smaller.

  • If possible, please write the number of books within each box on the outside of your boxes before dropping them off.

Capture the Moment

  • Kids Club members will be helping collect, organize, and pack the books before they are delivered to Read to Grow. We love documenting these moments of community impact, so we may take photos to share from the event.

  • Through this Kids Club event, Madison’s youngest community members are helping ensure more children across Connecticut have books to read, learn from, and love.

Where to Deliver Book Boxes

  • All Book donations can be dropped off to Eileen Wildermann at 17 Forest Hills Drive, Madison, CT from now through March 31, 2026.

Small acts of generosity today can spark a lifelong love of reading.
